GREENER CLEANING

TO PROTECT US AND OUR WORLD

Laser stripping

This procedure involves focusing an extremely powerful light source to remove dirt from the surface of many types of material. A properly focused beam can clean a part without altering its integrity or affecting a coating.

This technology is widely used in industry but less so in aerospace, as the laser’s path requires very specific programming. It is effective with parts that require chemical stripping and there is great interest in developing this solution.

The first tests with optimised parameters carried out on a flat specimen were very promising and showed no significant surface integrity on the materials tested.

The tests were carried out with the company MELIAD on an automated cell equipped with a 130mm focal length optical head connected to a 300W YAG laser source.

The next step will be to test the influence of the selected parameters on our complex geometry parts.
